R31 gas regulator is a two stage, stainless steel, high purity regulator with CGA 580 (inert gas) inlet and stainless steel 1/4 inch FNPT outlet port. It features a 316L stainless steel diaphragm and a one piece encapsulated seat with sintered filter to prevent contamination. The R31 is recommended for gas purity levels of Grade 6.0 (99.9999%) and higher. It is ideal for
laboratory and research applications where corrosive or ultra high purity gases are being used. Is is designed for use in gas chromatography, EPA protocol, laser gas and emission monitoring.

What is the difference between a single-stage vs. two-stage regulator?

Single-stage and two-stage regulators have different droop characteristics and respond differently to changing supply pressure.

The single-stage regulator shows little droop with varying flow rates, but a relatively large supply pressure effect. Conversely, the two-stage regulator shows a considerable droop, but only small supply pressure effects. A single-stage regulator is recommended where inlet pressure does not vary greatly or where periodic readjustment of delivery pressure does not present a problem. A two-stage regulator, however, provides constant delivery pressure with no need for periodic readjustment.
